Bee Tham
Bee Tham is the Founder of The Bee in the Lion. She produces and curates inter-disciplinary projects representing all forms of creative expression: from visual and performance arts to film, music, architecture and design.
Bee is also a private art dealer specializing in Modern, Postwar and Contemporary art, working with estates, collectors and corporations in the American and Asian markets; museums, art institutions and auction houses worldwide. Tham has assisted with putting together leading Modern and Contemporary Art collections including Claude Monet, Marc Chagall, Alexander Calder, Joan Miró, Henry Moore, Frank Stella, Yayoi Kusama, Andy Warhol, Richard Serra, Damien Hirst, Chen Yifei, Zeng Fanzhi, Zhou Chunya, Armand Pierre Arman, Mr., Shepard Fairey, Roxy Paine, etc.
In 2018, Gold House, a collective of pioneering Asian leaders voted Tham as one of the 100 most influential Asian Americans in culture, placing her among a list of luminaries including Crypto billionaire Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, film director Justin Lin, TV hosts Michelle Lee and Fareed Zakaria, actress/comedian Mindy Kaling, singer songwriter Bruno Mars, model Chrissy Teigen and others.
Previously, Tham co-founded, and was director of LYNCH THAM, a contemporary art gallery representing international mid-career and emerging artists in New York City for over three years. During this time, LYNCH THAM was voted by New York Observer as one of the top 5 young galleries to watch. The gallery was also featured in the 2015 annual guide of 500 Best Galleries Worldwide by Blouin Art MODERN PAINTERS magazine as one of the most influential galleries in the world.
Prior to joining the art world, Tham’s diversified career spans over 10 years in public and private sectors. She was formerly trained as a diplomat and Russian political specialist at the Foreign Service Office of the Government of Singapore, and has held leadership positions in marketing throughout her career.
Tham possesses a Master of Art in Philosophy, and an Honors Degree in Philosophy and History from the National University of Singapore. She was offered a doctorate program from Brown University and Harvard University, but decided to postpone her academic career in pursuit of her passion in art. Tham specializes in medieval philosophy, specifically in the art of living through the transformation of self in Greco-Roman and Asian philosophy.
Tham draws, paints, sculpts and writes in her past time, and is fluent in two languages. She is based in New York City.
